Dear Mr. President,
The ABSOLUTE WORST thing you could do during this sequester is allow Social Security to compensate for the mistakes of Wall Street. Asking the most vulnerable Americans to sacrifice their safety net to protect the rich is a deplorable thing to do.
Obama uses the Republican phrase ‘entitlements” to refer to the safety net. People aren’t entitled to Social Security. They earned Social Security. I think that’s what the police call a clue.
Earned it? I have been paying into it for for almost 30 years!!

Sorry. That was my point. It’s their money (your money) in the same way it would be yours if it was put in a bank and you went to withdraw it later. Referring to SS and the rest of the safety net as “entitlements” was started by Republicans. It implies that the money wasn’t earned but is being demanded. I hope that makes sense. It’s a fine line but Republicans cross it. It doesn’t help that Obama does, too.
